8 Inch 3-Compartment Bagasse Clamshell — GR-C06

A one-piece hinged clamshell in sugarcane bagasse fibre, 38 g, with three compartments. The drawing states 436 × 204 × 41 mm.

Construction

Read the three figures together before quoting. 204 mm is the 8-inch dimension the product is named for; 436 mm is more than twice that, which is the length with the lid open flat rather than the size of the closed box; 41 mm is the third dimension and needs confirming as base depth or closed height. A buyer asking for "the 8 inch clamshell" and a buyer asking for "the 436 mm one" are describing the same item from opposite ends.

The hinge is moulded into the body, so there is no separate lid to count, align or hold in stock — one SKU per format instead of two, and no mismatched-lid failure mode on a packing line. The three wells are formed in the same tool, so there is no inserted divider and no seam for sauce to cross.

Fit and limits

Built for a set menu: main, staple, side. The hinge is a fold line in fibre rather than a living hinge of polypropylene — it takes the journey and one opening by the customer, not repeated open-and-close. The box is not leak-proof; a sauce-heavy dish needs a liner or a different format.

The three dimensions are quoted exactly as drawn. Which of them is the closed height is not stated, and is not guessed at here. Settle that figure — and confirm the tolerance — before the item goes onto a quotation, because the closed footprint is what the buyer's bag and carton are built around.
