Construction

The colour split does two jobs. The clear lid lets staff and customers check a portion from above without opening the box, which on a busy counter is a minute saved per order; the opaque base hides the scratches and cutlery marks that make a transparent body look tired after a few weeks in service.

Both parts are polypropylene, so they travel in one recycling stream with no separation step — the property packaging rules now grade on, and one worth printing on the carton rather than leaving to inference.
